Christmas Morning 2011

California Christmas Morning
It was a beautiful 75 degrees today.  We decided to take a family picture across the street at the park while we were still in our church clothes.  It was a nice change to have church before opening presents.  This was a good year to postpone Santa since all the kids have become "enlightened".
A quick change of clothes back into comfy and we're ready for the festivities
Danish Aebleskivers are a Christmas morning tradition - yummy!

Christmas Eve Activities

We decided to try something different this Christmas Eve.  The weather was a gorgeous 70 degrees, so we took lunch to a favorite park in nearby Costa Mesa.  We ended up playing a spontaneous game of "Lava Monster" that turned out to be a lot of fun.  We were lucky to have Brett on hand with his camera

The Volcom skate park is adjacent to the play area, so of course we had to take a moment for the boys to do some Christmas Eve skating - FUN!

After a quick stop at two nursing homes for some carolling, we came home for a yummy Cranberry Chicken Christmas Eve dinner with Grandma Holbrook and Aunt Kari.

The week before Christmas

Mrs. Holbrook's Piano Recital
I am so blessed to introduce all of these beautiful children into the realm of piano music.
I adore my piano students and love this Christmas recital!

and a very talented pianist.

And so it begins. . .

Today is December 26th, the day after Christmas 2011.  This Christmas brought upon me several realizations of how quickly time is going by and how much my children are growing and my family is changing. This morning I woke and decided it is time to start my blog.  So, from one who feels completely unprepared to enter this realm - here I go!
